SEJARAH

The history of the Islamic Economics Study Program cannot be separated from the history of the founding of the Faculty of Economics. In 2006 the Faculty of Economics which at that time was still majoring in Economics Education under the Faculty of Social Sciences separated and declared the Faculty of Economics through the Decree of the Director-General of Higher Education Number 761/D/T/2006 concerning the Opening of the Faculty of Economics at Universitas Negeri Surabaya dated February 16, 2006, and the Decree of the Chancellor of Universitas Negeri Surabaya No. . 050/J37/HK.01.23/PP.03.02/2006 concerning the separation of the Department of Economics Education and its Study Programs from the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Opening of the Faculty of Economics dated March 16, 2006.

At the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Economics, the Chancellor of the State University of Surabaya, Prof. Haris Supratno gave a speech after the inauguration of the dean. Prof. Haris Supratno said that the Faculty of Economics, State University of Surabaya was different from the Faculty of Economics at other universities. "Faculty of Economics Universitas Negeri Surabaya will later be developed with the characteristics of Islamic Economics, which teaches economic management based on Islamic principles". he added. It is this characteristic that distinguishes us from other places, because of that the centre (Directorate General of Higher Education Kemdiknas) approved the change of the Department of Economics Education to become the Faculty of Economics. he concluded.

Since then, Islamic economics has been developed by the first dean of the Faculty of Economics, Drs. Setyo Budiadi, MM. The development began by preparing human resources in the field of Islamic economics by recruiting Dr. Khoirul Anwar, a graduate of Islamic Economics from IAIN Sunan Ampel as a lecturer at Universitas Negeri Surabaya holds sharia economic seminars and includes lectures in seminars, workshops, training on Sharia economics.

However, within four years, it is not enough to establish a Sharia economics study program. In 2010 there was a change in the leadership of Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Prof. Muchlas Samani replaces Prof. Haris as Chancellor of Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Since then, the establishment of the Islamic Economics Study Program has been discussed again. Gayung greets the second dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Bambang Suratman agreed to form a team to establish the Islamic Economics Study Program. While waiting for the team to work, assistant dean I Dr. Andre Dwijanto Witjaksono, S.T., M.Sc. making Islamic economics courses and Islamic financial institutions mandatory for all study programs within the economics faculty.

The long journey since 2006 finally paid off in 2014 with the issuance of the permit for the implementation of the Islamic economics study program with the Decree of the Ministry of Education and Culture Number: 81/E/O/2014, May 23, 2014.

The Team for the Establishment of the Islamic Economics Study Program is as follows in accordance with the Decree of the Dean of FE Number: 002/UN38.7/HK/DT/2014.
